Young Voices

Young Voices prep is going well, and, with the brilliant website, we are able to practise all the songs and the dance routines. Here we are practising Hakuna Matata, a very catchy African song.

Gymnastics

I am so impressed with my gymnastics squad, who are the most dedicated, self-motivated bunch of kids you could ever wish to meet! Their routines are already starting to take shape!

Young Voices

40 members of choir worked very hard to practise the songs, dance routines and sign language for Young Voices that took place on Wednesday 11th January. Everyone who went had an amazing experience, singing with 5000 other children, a live band a various professional singers, dancers and beat boxers. We are very proud of everyone’s efforts!

Music in 2016-17

There will be a few changes to music during the coming academic year, due to the increasing size of the school…

Choir will continue in school time, but take place during Monday morning assembly. The choir will be working towards the different festivals and Young Voices, which takes place in January.

I will be starting a KS1 Choir which will take place during lunchtime on Tuesdays. We have so many talented children in Year 1 and 2 we just had to make the most of it!

String Orchestra will now take place on a Monday lunchtime. I will also be offering additional lessons before school and during playtimes on Monday.

For those who are really keen on drama, dance and singing, I will be running a ‘Glee’ Club after school on Tuesdays for KS2. This will be an ongoing commitment throughout the year and we will work towards putting on a show in the Summer Term.

Looking forward to an exciting year of musical fun!
Mrs Wright

‘Winter’ music in F1 and F2

F1 and F2 have been using ‘Winter’ from Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’ as inspiration for their own compositions. They chose instruments that sounded ‘cold’ such as Chime Bars, Indian Bells and Triangles.

Young Voices

Well, Choir members….Young Voices is FAST approaching!!! And there is LOTS to do! We have missed choir this week with it being an INSET day so it means you need to work even harder at home. Get playing those CD’s, singing along, and learning those words! And…if you’ve lost the CD’s in amongst all those Christmas presents then don’t panic – you can find a lot of the songs on YouTube. Just type in Young Voices 2016 to YouTube and you’ll find all the songs that have actions to them. (And the dance routine to Uptown Funk).

If you’re worrying that you haven’t brought your slip back to say you can come  it isn’t too late. Come and see me or the office and we will give you a replacement letter. The date of it is Monday 18th January. I know some of you are worrying that it’s a late night but it’s worth it, I promise!logo
